If you want to support the proposed Constitution, feel free to vote for it and to pin it on IPFS in order to increase its availability: ipfs://QmNQ8bHo6fixHAu5S3A2x9pfGgEdYa6hitWEtyiSiZdrmQ
The following text is a 1-to-1 copy from the constitution document on IPFS, see above.
Constitution of KILT Protocol
KILT Protocol is a decentralized, open source, permissionless, public, blockchain protocol.
KILT Protocol aims to:
- Create data sovereignty as an alternative to centralized data silos.
- Facilitate trust relationships in the digital realm.
- Provide utility for everyone inside and outside the blockchain ecosystem.
- Advance industry-agnostic business opportunities.
- Continually evolve with community requirements, new concepts, and developments in technology.
- Support a system where everyone uses their power to strive for the best for all and KILT Protocol.
We, the KILT community, uphold the values of transparency, privacy, collaboration and fairness. We believe that the KILT software should be open source and be used in the spirit of the concepts and principles of human rights.
The governance of KILT Protocol consists of different decision-making processes through KILT Coin holders and representative bodies.
The following core principles are central to this Constitution of KILT Protocol and even if they are changed, everyone is bound to change them back:
- Each KILT Coin holder always has the right to vote in KILT governance.
- A runtime upgrade always requires a supermajority or another equivalent of an evolved governance mechanism.
- No change can be made that prevent the continuance of the functioning of KILT Protocol and its core features.
Any future change to the text of this version of the Constitution must be approved with a supermajority or another equivalent of an evolved governance mechanism. If not, the new version of the Constitution shall be seen as invalid even if it reached approval by a majority.
KILT Protocol relies on an approach of participation in which all KILT Coin holders have a vote and are encouraged to use it as often as possible to actively participate in the evolution of KILT Protocol.
Participation on KILT includes but is not limited to making proposals, voting, delegating, collating, or becoming a member of a representative body. Members of the community, irrespective of whether or not they are KILT Coin holders, can also actively participate as developers, designers, marketers, content creators, translators, etc. Participation that contributes to KILT Protocol or benefits the network around it can be supported by treasury grants.
The needs of the community should be placed above the personal and/or financial interests of individuals or small groups.
Members of all bodies should feel bound to this Constitution in fulfilling their duties for KILT Protocol and in doing so, should strive to pursue the aims and represent the values of this Constitution.
If one or more representatives notice that another representative of the same or another body is not behaving in accordance with this Constitution they are obliged to use their best endeavors to remove this offending representative.
The composition of the KILT bodies should be diverse and represent as many interest groups in the ecosystem as possible.
This Constitution shall be in force for any kind of participation in KILT Protocol, and all members of its bodies, holders of KILT Coins, and other participants of the ecosystem shall be bound to it and its goals and values.
